The supposed date of the cemetery's launch is set at 1790. Until then, burials took place at the cemetery in Będzin. About 300 tombstones or their fragments have survived in the necropolis. The cemetery was probably destroyed during the Second World War, forgotten and overgrown after the war, it fell into oblivion. Only in the 1980s and 1990s, on the initiative of Jews from Modrzejów, the cemetery was tidied up. The area was fenced off with a steel fence and the tombstones were placed on concrete pedestals.
